JUEGOS DEL LLANTO (2018)
Music for 3 poems by Julio Cortázar exploring the subject of love in its different manifestations. From falling in love, passing through the seeking towards mutual balance, and finally reaching acceptance of the inevitable truth that is letting go even the ones we love the most.
Vocal: Olivia Diehl, Guitar: Juan Luqui
Three movement piece inspired by the constant process of thinking, and the different main stages of my personal experience at least. (i) Fog represents the state of cluttered thinking, of aversion to life and its beauty, lack of perspective and resistance to acceptance. (ii) Parade is related to Fog in the sense that the mind in this expression has control over us too, but with an energetic productive intention, so we tend to feel unstoppable. Yet one is still trapped in the intellect. This two places are were we live most of the time. (iii) Less represents the big mind, the state of complete absorption, where one can experience the fullness of existence, with all its perfection in imperfection, love and pain, awe-inspiring beyond its unending duality.
Violin: Stephanie Yu, Cello: Bingxia Lu
MUSIC FOR A BELLY BUTTON (2016)
Written for his sister and first niece before she was burn, while still inside a Belly Button. Three small childish movements inspired by the curious process of learning and growing, as a kid and as an adult equally. (i) What? What am I going to do? What is my purpose? What is this existence? (ii) How? How to be myself? How to be happy and giving? How to learn to embrace the bad? (iii) Like this. The only way: with love and acceptance.
MIDI performance sequenced by Juan Luqui
